Biography

I am an Associate Professor of English and the editor of UNM-Valencia's literary journal, Manzano Mountain Review. I earned my MFA in Creative Writing from Florida International University. I also have degrees from Northern Arizona University and the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

I teach composition and rhetoric, expository writing, creative writing, and literature. My interests include short fiction and novel writing techniques, crime fiction, American western history, and philosophy. My stories and poems have appeared in Meridian, 3:AM Magazine, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Thuglit, Washington Square Review, Mystery Tribune, and other publications. In my free time, I co-host Point Blank — a podcast about noir, hardboiled, and detective fiction — and record music under various monikers. If you have questions about my classes, send me note.
