Community Education Services is located at the Workforce Training Center. Community Education is comprised of the following programs providing learning opportunities for citizens of all ages.
CPR and First Aid Training: Classes offered monthly through our American Heart Association Training Center open to the public. Employers can call 505.925.8656 for information on becoming a training site.
Workforce Training: Customized training for business, industry and government entities, offered on campus or at your place of business to prepare your employees to better serve your company's needs. A variety of career-technical programs are also available for individuals to enhance their skills in order to enter the workforce or to embark on new careers.
Cultural Enrichment Series: This series brings a wide variety of informational lectures and entertainment from cultures around the world, and in subjects of all disciplines.
Off Campus Instruction: College credit courses are offered at off-campus sites.
Facility Master Scheduling: Profit and non-profit organizations are welcome to use the facilities if available.

PD0112 Leadership /Management Part I Foundations
Kick off your leadership journey by exploring the key differences between leadership and management. Through videos, self-assessments, and guided discussions, you'll identify your leadership style, reflect on real-world examples, and learn how to recognize and avoid toxic leadership behaviors. A powerful start to becoming the leader your team needs.

PD0115 Leadership/Management Part II Leading with Impact: Building strong teams and Positive workplaces
This interactive workshop is designed to strengthen leadership and management skills essential for today’s workplace. Participants will learn effective conflict resolution strategies, explore ways to boost employee engagement, and develop techniques for delegation and empowerment that build trust and accountability. The session will also highlight the connection between customer and employee satisfaction, providing practical tools to create a motivated team and deliver exceptional service.

PD0108 Computer Basics
This introductory course is designed for individuals seeking to build foundational computer skills for personal, academic, or professional use. Over six hands-on classes, students will gain practical experience with essential computer applications and tools. Microsoft Word, File Management, set up and use of email accounts including composing and managing attachments, Internet Basics, Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft Excel. By the end of this course, participants will be comfortable using core computer applications and will have developed confidence to apply their new digital skills in everyday situations.

PD0102- Layout & Framing
A study of wood form construction techniques which includes methods of wall, roof and deck framing. Planning the layout of structural members is emphasized. Stress and strain on these structural members are studied in conjunction with the structural capacities of various types of wood and other materials. These courses consist of lab and classroom experiences.

PD0118 – Concrete Finishing I
Includes methods, procedures and terms used in concrete finishing. Students identify methods to prepare, place, apply finishes and learn the different curing and protecting methods of concrete. Properties of chemical and mineral mixtures, tools, equipment and troubleshooting of concrete is also covered, while following the American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Building Code (IBC) and OSHA guidelines, procedures and regulation.

PD0120 SMAW- ARC Welding II
Reviews and builds upon SMAW-1 skills. Students will learn joint design and AWS standards for welder qualification testing criteria for weld quality and destructive tests (bend test).

PD0119 – GMAW Gas Metal Arc Weld I
Introduces Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) short circuit welding safety, machine set up and shutdown procedures. Topics include personal protective equipment (PPE), GMAW uses, advantages and disadvantages, constant voltage (CV) power source, polarity, electrode types, shielding gases, and weld discontinuities and defects identification and corrective practices. Lab exercises will include various joints in all positions.

PD0103 Construction Project Management
The project manager is essential to a construction project’s success, overseeing planning, organizing, estimating, and scheduling from start to finish. For residential, commercial, industrial, or civil projects, they coordinate all phases, applying project management skills to keep construction on time and within budget. Effective managers have strong communication skills, a deep understanding of the building process, and risk management abilities. They may also handle financial challenges, hire workers, and monitor daily site activities. The methodology and techniques covered in the course align with Project Management Institute’s Standards and can help prepare participants for CAPM Certification. OSHA certification is preferred but not required to take this course.
Upon successful completion of the program participants will receive an industry recognized NCCER certification.

PD0105 Bookkeeping for Small Business
Are you struggling to maintain detailed finances with your small business? Let this course help you gain the confidence needed to help monitor your company’s financial health and activity. We will cover the importance of controlling your small business financial transactions and spending activities. This three-hour course will introduce you to basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices to help you understand the most important aspect of your small business. Tools and handouts will be provided to help you become more equipped to set a strong financial foundation for growth and small business success.

PD0106 QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Online (QBO) is the most widely used financial accounting tool and a great solution for many different types of business, both large and small. QBO is packed with cloud-based features that will give businesses more ways to save time, reduce errors and streamline your business. This 6-hour course will cover topics such as subscription levels, the setting up of your QBO company file, creating the foundation of your company file with the chart of accounts and product/service lists, connecting a bank account to the bank feed, reviewing dashboard and navigation bars, understanding the customer and vendor centers, and creating transactions. Online access and a QBO Test Drive company file will be provided.

BLS Healthcare Provider CPR
Healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This course is recommended for all healthcare providers including Doctors, EMS personnel, Physician Assistants, Dentists, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Nursing Assistants. Course length: 4 to 5 hours.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED
This American Heart Association (AHA) approved course teaches basic first aid skills such as removing gloves aseptically, identifying medical emergencies including administration of an Epinephrine Pen, stopping bleeding and proper bandaging techniques and learn basic CPR skills such as performing a head tilt-chin lift, giving high quality chest compressions and breaths as well as basic AED (Automatic External Defibrillation) operations. Skills are taught using AHA’s research proven Practice-While-Watching technique which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide students in their acquisition of skills during class.
