Career Services are for you too
UNM-Valencia Career Services are available to anyone within our service area.
Our Services
The Career Advisor is available by appointment to assist you with assessing abilities, interests and values, clarifying career goals, writing a résumé or cover letter, preparing for interviews and conducting a job search.
Want to meet with the Career Advisor? You can make an appointment by calling 505.925.8840 or by emailing sjclawson@unm.edu.
Career Assessments
These tests measure your personal characteristics and recommend a list of careers that match you. We offer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory for a cost of $40 per assessment. Free assessments are also available. If you want to take a career assessment, please email sjclawson@unm.edu or call 505.925.8840. Voicemail is checked daily and all calls are returned within 24 hours.
Career Exploration
Information about possible careers is widely available on the internet; however, it is important to get the information from a reliable source like the ones listed below:
O*Net - A database maintained by the US Department of Labor on thousands of career classifications.
Occupational Outlook Handbook - A database maintained by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics on thousands of career classifications
Job Search
There are many ways to find a job, but the online job search is now the most common - if not the most effective. The best way to find a job is through your network; the people who know you and would happily recommend you to someone they know. We can help you be better at networking. Check out other job search resources here.
