Dealing with Potentially Dangerous People

VAGUE THREATS 

This information may come through e-mail, term papers, film or art projects. Statements or themes suggesting an obsession with or desire to die or harm self or others may concern you. The student’s behavior may be intense and disturbing to others and the environment. 

• Call the CARE Team at 505-925-8546 for consultation.

IMMINENT THREAT 

You learn that a student has a clear intention or plan to harm themselves or others; for example, if the student discusses having weapons at home they plan to bring to campus, or you observe a student engaging in violent behavior such as assaulting someone or damaging property.

• Do not engage, get yourself and others to safety. Call 505-925-8570 or 9-1-1 immediately. When safe, contact the CARE team at 505-925-8546.
