Program Description

The program will provide the first two years of study for students planing to pursue a bachelor's degree at UNM-Main in the professional areas of health education (school health education or community health education). The mission of the Health Education program is to develop and promote sustainable public health solutions for populations in New Mexico and beyond, through the professional preparation of health education specialists, collaboration with communities and organizations, research/evaluation and advocacy.

Career and Educational Advancement Opportunities

The degree will prepare students for bachelor of science and a master of science in Health Education. Both degree programs focus on health education and health promotions at the community label. The Health Education program in the College of Education at UNM offers a unique and innovative program in response to the changing health needs of the state and the nation. Graduates gain proficiency in working with culturally diverse communities to develop, implement, and evaluate health education and promotion interventions and initiatives that reduce risky behaviors and related morbidity and mortality.
