UNM-Valencia Joins Accelerate New Mexico Campaign

The University of New Mexico launches Accelerate New Mexico on Sept. 18, 2026, a comprehensive fundraising campaign focused on expanding student opportunity, advancing research and innovation, supporting faculty excellence and strengthening communities across the state.
The campaign enters its public phase with more than $600 million already secured toward a $1.2 billion goal. Its central call to action, Be the Reason, invites alumni, donors, businesses and community partners to help shape what comes next for UNM and New Mexico.
UNM-Valencia is part of that university-wide effort. Locally, the campaign connects to work already supporting students and creating opportunity through scholarships, workforce partnerships and community outreach. Among several recent examples, 12 UNM-Valencia students received scholarships from the Hispano Chamber of Valencia County, while PNM Power Pros provided local high school students with certificates and professional starter tool kits as they prepared for technical careers.
UNM-Valencia is also developing new workforce partnerships aligned with the region's growing industries. Pacific Fusion, which recently opened a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Los Lunas, is working with UNM-Valencia to develop a Mechanical Technician associate degree designed to help prepare students for technical careers supporting the company's workforce needs. These organizations represent only a few of the many community, business and philanthropic partners helping expand opportunity for UNM-Valencia students and strengthen Valencia County's workforce.
