The Wellness Club

The purpose of the Wellness Club is to educate our campus and community about health issues affecting Valencia County, our state, our nation and our world.

 Are You Interested in:

  • Health topics concerning Valencia Campus students or community members?
  • Affecting change on campus and in your community?
  • Building your resume?
  • Developing leadership skills?
  • Health and Wellness?

 

To Become a UNM Valencia Wellness Club member you must:

  • Be a UNM Valencia Campus student.
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Be in agreement with the club's purposes.
  • Be willing to promote wellness on the campus and in the community and help with one event each semester.

Meetings are held in the Wellness Center (WC), Room 134.

Benefits

  • The mission of the Wellness Club is to increase the health and wellness throughout our campus and our community.  We have monthly events to increase awareness about alcohol abuse, mental health, diabetes, AIDS, heart health, nutrition and many other areas that affect health and wellness. 
  • Many people benefit from the Wellness Club, those who are interested in their own health and wellness through body mind and spirit, and those who are interested in the health of family or friends.  Those pursuing degrees in Exercise Science, Personal Training, Nursing, Health Education, Physical Education, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, and Sport Administration. 
  • Being involved with the wellness club will help make connections with other students, faculty and staff on campus and will also help in making connections with the community. You can also earn extra credit if you are currently enrolled in PENP 193 Intro To Fitness. This is also a great way to build up your resume.
  • If you are interested in joining the wellness club, please contact the Wellness Club.  We ask that if you want to become a member you become an active member, by attending meetings, sharing your ideas, and helping plan new activities for the wellness club.

To impress upon our campus and community the importance of overall wellness pertaining to physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Objectives:

Wellness Club members play an interactive role and helps advise the WC manager while actively participating in outreach and health promotions.

  • To increase and improve health and wellness on our campus.
  • To impress upon our campus and community the importance of wellness pertaining to the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, cultural and environmental well-being of the individual.
  • To educate our campus and community about health issues affecting Valencia County, our state, our nation and our world.
