Biography
Dr. Gabriela Peterson is a highly motivated, bilingual educator (English/Spanish) with a strong commitment to advancing inclusion and educational equity. She draws on extensive experience in multicultural education, culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, and culturally responsive leadership.
She leads college access initiatives with a student-centered approach grounded in advocacy, access, and relationship-building. She works closely with first-generation and historically underserved high school students, partnering with families, school staff, and community organizations to create meaningful pathways to postsecondary success.
She has taught in K–12 and higher education settings in both the United States and Ecuador, with a focus on preparing future early childhood and K–12 educators. Her university courses intentionally integrate culturally responsive teaching practices and core concepts from bilingual education and TESOL, equipping teacher candidates to create inclusive, affirming, and accessible learning environments.
Across all roles, from classroom instruction to leadership in college access, she is dedicated to mentoring future educators and supporting the growth of students navigating barriers to higher education. Her work centers on designing inclusive curriculum and transforming educational systems to foster equity, belonging, and academic success for all learners.
