Biography

Alexa Wheeler holds a Master of Fine Art degree in Studio Art focusing on Electronic Art from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Studio Art focusing on Printmaking from Pratt Institute. She also earned a Tamarind Master Printer Certificate of Lithography at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, NM. She has been teaching at the University of New Mexico - Valencia Campus since 2008 as a Senior Lecturer III in Fine Arts and is currently a Coordinator in the Humanities Division. She received a Certification in Online Teaching from the Sloan Consortium, as well as Certificates in Applying the Quality Matters Rubric and Improving Your Online Course from the Quality Matters organization. She is also certified in Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator. She is a practicing artist who has shown at a variety of museums, galleries and exhibition spaces both nationally and internationally.
