Alice Letteney

Letter from the Chancellor

Dr. Alice V. Letteney has served as the Chancellor — other titles prior were Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer — of The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus since 1995.

With nearly 50 years of experience working in two-year colleges, Dr. Letteney has received many honors spanning her career, notably, the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction in 2015 and the 2022 Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Award from Phi Theta Kappa — the National Honor Society of two-year colleges.

On the heels of being honored with the PTK Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Letteney will be retiring at the end of July 2022.

Letteney has led the charge to educate, not only incoming freshmen, but those currently in the workforce by bringing industry recognized initiatives to continue or elevate their education at the Tomé campus and Workforce Training Center (WTC).

Letteney looks forward to seeing the WTC, which opened in January 2022 on the West side of Los Lunas, and the UNM-Valencia campus thrive in the future after spending more than 27 years at the helm of Valencia County’s University. Go Lobos!
