Community Education Services is located at the Workforce Training Center. Community Education is comprised of the following programs providing learning opportunities for citizens of all ages.
CPR and First Aid Training: Classes offered monthly through our American Heart Association Training Center open to the public. Employers can call 505.925.8656 for information on becoming a training site.
Workforce Training: Customized training for business, industry and government entities, offered on campus or at your place of business to prepare your employees to better serve your company's needs. A variety of career-technical programs are also available for individuals to enhance their skills in order to enter the workforce or to embark on new careers.
Cultural Enrichment Series: This series brings a wide variety of informational lectures and entertainment from cultures around the world, and in subjects of all disciplines.
Off Campus Instruction: College credit courses are offered at off-campus sites.
Facility Master Scheduling: Profit and non-profit organizations are welcome to use the facilities if available.

CPR Training
BLS Healthcare Provider CPR
Healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. This course is recommended for all healthcare providers including Doctors, EMS personnel, Physician Assistants, Dentists, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Nursing Assistants. Course length: 4 to 5 hours.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED
This American Heart Association (AHA) approved course teaches basic first aid skills such as removing gloves aseptically, identifying medical emergencies including administration of an Epinephrine Pen, stopping bleeding and proper bandaging techniques and learn basic CPR skills such as performing a head tilt-chin lift, giving high quality chest compressions and breaths as well as basic AED (Automatic External Defibrillation) operations. Skills are taught using AHA’s research proven Practice-While-Watching technique which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide students in their acquisition of skills during class.

PD0110 NCCER Core
Introduction to Basic Construction Skills prepares individuals for entry-level positions on project sites by providing the basics in safety, hand and power tools, construction math, materials handling, construction drawings, communication and employability skills. This course consists of classroom and laboratory experiences.

PD0101 Blueprint Reading
An introductory course in blueprint reading to help the student interpret the ideas of others and to express his/ her own ideas in an understandable manner through drawings. It will stress the necessary skills and processes used in architectural drafting. The students will have the opportunity to develop their own originality and ingenuity. This course consists of classroom and laboratory experiences.

PD0109 OSHA 10 Construction Industry Certification
This 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training, based on 29 CFR 1926 regulations, is designed for entry-level workers in the construction industry. The course provides essential training on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of jobsite hazards, promoting a culture of safety and regulatory compliance.
Participants will receive instruction on key topics including OSHA’s role, the Focus Four hazards (Falls, Electrocution, Struck-By, and Caught-In/Between), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Health Hazards in Construction, and other important safety practices relevant to construction environments. Students who successfully complete the OSHA 10 course receive an OSHA 10 certification card.

PD0116 Print Reading for Welders
Participants will learn to read and interpret prints and welding symbols and transfer this knowledge to the workplace with layout tools and measuring instruments. Student Learning Outcomes 1. Identify, read and follow AWS welding symbols. 2. Demonstrate the ability to interpret orthographic and isometric drawings. 3. Demonstrate the ability to read/interpret pipe welding drawing and schematics. 4. Demonstrate proficiency in mathematics utilized in welding and fabrication.

This course will cover introductory theory and practical applications of structural plate welding, welding safety, handheld torch cutting operations and equipment set up. The development of student skills using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process in all positions will be stressed. The standards of this course are set by the American Welding Society and utilized in both classroom study and laboratory work.

This introductory course is designed for individuals seeking to build foundational computer skills for personal, academic, or professional use. Over six hands-on classes, students will gain practical experience with essential computer applications and tools. Microsoft Word, File Management, setup and use of email accounts including composing and managing attachments; Internet Basics and Microsoft PowerPoint. By the end of this course, participants will be comfortable using core computer applications and will have developed confidence to apply their new digital skills in everyday situations.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) is the most widely used financial accounting tool and a great solution for many different types of business, both large and small. QBO is packed with cloud-based features that will give businesses more ways to save time, reduce errors and streamline your business. This 6-hour course will cover topics such as subscription levels, the setting up of your QBO company file, creating the foundation of your company file with the chart of accounts and product/service lists, connecting a bank account to the bank feed, reviewing dashboard and navigation bars, understanding the customer and vendor centers, and creating transactions. Online access and a QBO Test Drive company file will be provided.
