Research Game
The Research Game
- Divide into groups of 2 or 3.
- Each person in the group opens a game scorecard.
- Enter your name and your groups' members into the document and save it--yournameresearchgame
- Each person will complete a scorecard--but only 1 from will be submitted for points.
Research Process
- Choose your topic.
- Create your search strategy.
- Search for resources.
- Evaluate.
- Search again and evaluate.
- Use the information for your paper.
Game Rules
- You will usually have a specific amount of time (minutes) to complete 2 tasks in each of 6 realms.
- You will each roll the dice to determine your first task and move to the "Locktask" when the first task is completed.
- The instructor will award full or partial experience points (XP) at the completion of each task.
- Group members may help each other with the tasks.
- Use the "HELP" flag if you do not understand the task or to ask a question.
- In the final round, you reflect on both your and your group members experience, and my award up to 100XP to a group member for their exceptional work during the game.
- At the end of the game the instructor may award the group as many as 200 XP based on reflection and discussion of learning, enthusiasm, and accomplishment of the players.
- Each member of the group totals the XP on their scorecard and the group submits the scorecard with the highest point score to potentially win a flashdrive for each member of the group.
